Coach 1964-1972

A Cheney High School and University of Montana graduate, Bob Everson came to YVC in 1964 as an assistant football, head wrestling and golf coach.  Prior to coming to Yakima, he was the head coach of Cheney High School from 1960-63.  In total, Everson spent nine years on the YVC football sidelines, first as an assistant for five seasons (including YVC’s 1964 championship campaign—the program’s only conference title)  before being named as the college’s head coach for four seasons (1969-72.)  His 1969 team won the division title and his 1970 team finished in second place.  Everson then took the opportunity to join the football staff at the University of Washington under Jim Owens.  In 1974, Everson returned to the NWAC as the head football coach at the Community Colleges of Spokane and served in that capacity until 1988 while being named  NWAC Coach of the Year three times during his tenure.  He is a member of the NWAC Hall of Fame, having been inducted in 1994.
