Team 1977

The baseball team of 1977 won the East Region title and the NWAC championship with an overall record of 38-8.  At the time, it was the program’s record for wins in a season and it was a mark they held for 41 years.  The team's batting average was .292 while the pitching staff had a team ERA of 3.00. YVC, who hosted the 1977 NWAC Championship Tournament, had to do it the long way having suffered a first round loss before coming all the way back and beating Edmonds 7-5 before defeating Spokane Falls twice (6-3 and 5-4) to win their second straight title.  The team was inducted into the NWAC Hall of Fame in 1997, on the twentieth anniversary of their championship.

1977 team members included: Dave Anderson, Jeff Beck, Bernie Brand, Bruce Chaney, Brian Davison, Dan Farano, Jim Flannery, Greg Fugate, Ron Gregson, Phil Hinrichs, Gordie Johnson, Danny King, Mark Knight, Ken Knustson, Randy May, Scott Morse, Tony Naccarato, Pat Phelan, Bob Potts, Barry Sayler, Mike Schultz, Mark Willis, Assistant Coach Lane Phillips and Head Coach Bill Faller.
